LaMovement Fitness  is more than a dance company. Dance is one of the more effective and fun ways to start and maintain your fitness goals. Getting active through dance-inspired fitness is known to relieve stress and burn calories.

Getting Active relieves stress, teaches breathing techniques , burns calories and balance. In just 30 minutes your heart could be pumping to some of your fave tunes and help you to lose over 200 calories!

Once you make Get Up and Get Active part of your routine, anything is possible!

La’Movement Fitness hosts different dance fitness events and classes to appeal to different demographics and to help you find your Get Up & Get Active niche. Classes are held online or in person. We even host private sessions & parties. Classes include La'X, La'Abs, LMF Kids Fit, and more dance-inspired fitness.

La’Movement Fitness was founded November 2013 by LaLa Woods. Started in a local community center in Buffalo NY with a Mission to inspire & motivate the community to live a healthier lifestyle by becoming more active. Since, La’Movement has worked with various organizations throughout WNY to Help Fight Childhood obesity.

Through these efforts they’ve been able to touch the lives of over 15,000 students grades K-12 in 34 after school programs throughout Erie County & other community programs teaching dance & fitness classes to promote a proactive healthy lifestyle.

OUR FOUNDER

 

LaLa Woods is the owner and founder of La'Movement Fitness. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, where there are so many great food restaurants; LaLa created some bad eating habits as a child although she was very active.

For years, she struggled with her weight loss efforts trying to find a balance between a healthy diet and active lifestyle in her early adult life. She watched others around her go through her same struggles and she decided to become an advocate for change.

After completing her B.A in Dance at SUNY Buffalo State College, she became certified for Zumba Fitness and taught zumba for a few years before launching "La'Movement Dance Fit" to become the first class of La’Movement Fitness LLC.​ She was a certified Group Fitness Instructor at LA Fitness for many years teaching Aqua Fit, Spin, Bootcamp, & Body Pump.

OUR FOUNDER

 

La’Movement Fitness started in a local community center where LaLa provided easy access to affordable classes. Using her challenges with unhealthy eating habits and weight loss as advocacy for change, she began calling on women, families, and children to maintain an active lifestyle. 

She also raised awareness of the disparities faced by lower-income groups in need of healthier food and exercise options. Soon the G.U.G.A. (Get Up & Get Active) movement took off.

LaLa Woods began her dance journey in her hometown Buffalo, New York. Motivated by a passion for performance, she completed an undergraduate degree in Dance from SUNY Buffalo State College and a certification to teach Zumba.

For years, LaLa channeled her skills into teaching others. As a certified, LA Fitness , Group Fitness Instructor, she taught Aqua Fit, Spin, Bootcamp, and Body Pump. By 2013, Her enthusiasm for dance-inspired fitness and love of community inspired LaLa to develop and launch new choreography in the form of La'Movement Dance Fit - the first signature class of La’Movement Fitness, LLC.​

LaLa's mission is to empower women to create an active dance-inspired fitness lifestyle  underpinned by her fun carefully choreographed classes . Also to continue to build awareness in the community through the GUGA Movement

At the heart of our mission is our commitment to wellness in the community. We actively work with lower-income communities to provide access to affordable fitness programs that are fun and easy. We teach dance and fitness classes that are part of a healthier lifestyle, and we believe that there should be options for families to work out together. 

We take pride in our work in the community.

 

Our wellness in the community mission aims to help fight childhood obesity and bridge the disparities in health & wellness that impact them. Many working-class families don’t have access to healthy food sources, education, facilities, or activities. At La’Movement we understand these struggles because we are part of the community. We are fortunate to work with many non-profit organizations, city officials, health clubs, and insurance companies, to name a few, and provide services in the Western New York area.

Strong partnerships with committed individuals drive our most successful community programs! If you want to create a unique wellness program that is fun and effective, we can show you how to include dance-inspired fitness. The #Get Up and Get Active movement continues to focus on women, children, and families. Together can help make positive long-term changes to local community groups:
